Property Developer Fined For Failing To Obtain Asbestos Survey


A property developer has been prosecuted failing to obtain an asbestos R&D survey prior to undertaking refurbishment works on a residential property.

An investigation by the Health & Safety Executive discovered that Pascal Huser Design & Build Ltd carried out extensive construction work at an address in Fulham London but failed to carry out an asbestos survey prior to the works commencing.

The discovery was made during a routine HSE investigation.

During the investigation, is was discovered that Pascal Huser Design & Build Ltd had allowed works to remove an asbestos-boarded ceiling, without carrying out the correct checks.

An R&D survey would have identified the risk of exposure to asbestos prior to works commencing.

Pascal Huser Design & Build Ltd of Putney Bridge Road, London pleaded guilty to breaching Regulation 5 of Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and has been fined £16,000 and ordered to pay costs of £4,940.40.
